ENCOURAGING YOU TO LIVE OUT LOUD

BOLDLY

AS YOUR MOST AUTHENTIC SELF

Face-Plant? More Like a Launchpad! Let's Get Bold.

Listen, I know I ususally send my Newsletter out on Fridays, but I am really excited about the two offers that are included in this issue and want to give you guys an early preview before the offers go public on Friday.

But before we get to all that, let's have a little chat, shall we?

Have you recently stumbled, faltered, or maybe even face-planted so spectacularly you could taste the dirt?

We've all been there. I'm kind of there now.

The truth of the matter is, it isn't if you'll trip, but what you do with the scraped knees and bruised ego. Are you going to wallow in the "woe is me" narrative, or are you going to dust yourself off and realize you just got some seriously valuable intel?

Because here's the truth, buttercup: failure isn't the opposite of success, it's a detour on the way to it. And frankly, clinging to the fear of messing up is about as bold as beige wallpaper. We're aiming for something a little more… electric.

The Audacity of the Pivot: Seeing Setbacks as Intel

Think about it. Every "oops" moment is a data point. Your grand plan didn't pan out? Fantastic! Now you know one way not to do it. That presentation bombed? Excellent! You've just identified what resonates (or, more accurately, doesn't resonate) with your "audience."

The truly bold move isn't avoiding mistakes – that's playing small. The authentic, audacious act is to stare "failure" in the face, raise a perfectly sculpted eyebrow, and say, "Well, that was interesting. What did we learn?"

Failure is simply data. (My ego didn't like it when my coach said this to me about failure a few months ago either.)

Real-World Sass: Boldness in Action

The "Failed" Product Launch: Remember that tech company whose initial PDA gadget flopped? Apple Newton, I think it was... Instead of throwing in the towel, they dissected the feedback, identified the core issues, and pivoted. Their next product? A market leader. And now Apple is a POWERHOUSE in the personal device department.

That, my friend, is boldness born from the ashes of a perceived failure.

The Rejected Manuscript: Countless literary giants faced a mountain of rejection slips before their brilliance was recognized. They didn't take "no" as the final word; they refined, persisted, and eventually, their voices roared. Talk about a power move.

Success can ONLY come after the willingness to risk and fail.

And unfortunately, some of us need to fail harder than others in order to soulfully succeed.

Your Turn to Be Audacious: Practical Steps

After a setback, don't just sulk. Schedule a "lessons learned" session with yourself (or your team) or a coach. What went wrong? Specifically? What could be done differently next time? Be ruthlessly honest, but ditch the self-flagellation.

Instead of "I failed," try to reframe and say, "I experimented and got some unexpected results." See the difference? It's about perspective.

If you're terrified of a monumental flop, start smaller. Experiment with lower-stakes situations to build your resilience and your "learning from mistakes" muscle.

Self-Reflection, Because You're Worth It:

What's a recent "failure" you've been dwelling on? Can you identify at least one valuable lesson from it?

How would your actions change if you genuinely believed that every misstep was simply information guiding you forward?

What small, bold step can you take today that feels a little risky but could lead to significant growth?

Listen, the path to anything worthwhile is rarely a perfectly paved highway. There will be bumps, detours, and the occasional pothole that threatens to swallow your entire ambition. But it's in how you navigate these challenges that your true boldness shines.

So, go forth. Experiment. Mess up a little (or a lot). Learn. And for heaven's sake, be gloriously, unapologetically BOLD.

Ready to rewrite your narrative? My Face-plant to Fearless: Your Bold Steps Worksheet is your no-nonsense guide to reframing setbacks, creating actionable plans, and finally taking those bold steps you've been hesitating to take. You can get it for just $5 and use it over and over.

The Day I Stopped Selling Coaching and Started Living It

I had this vision, see. It was crystal clear in my head: I'd launch my coaching business, "Living Outloud Coaching," and clients would line up after they heard about my 15+ years of coaching for Free for different organizations. It was MY time to build a business, and I'd be this beacon of light, guiding people to their best, most favorite selves, working from a laptop wherever I wanted (eventually Bali maybe?) in no time.

As it turns out, the reality has involved a lot more crying into my pillow and keeping my 9-5 school job because I can't seem to get even one full-paying client.

The first year has been... humbling. My website looks pretty, my social media was on point (or so I thought), and I even have offered several free as well as paid introductory workshops and small groups. Crickets. There were some inquiries about the free stuff, but no one seems to want to pay me for coaching.

I've invested money, time, and hope in this dream. I am stuck in my (sometimes soul-crushing) school job. And here I am, staring at an empty inbox, feeling like the world's biggest fool. Doubt has crept in, whispering insidious little lies: You're not good enough. Who are you to be "telling" people how to live their lives? You should just give up.

I've spiraled for a bit. I stopped posting. I avoided connection. I have been the anti-coach, sometimes wallowing in self-pity and despair.

Recently, one night, I couldn't sleep. I was tossing and turning, my "rude brain" replaying all my "failures" on an endless loop. And in the darkness, a tiny voice, a whisper of my intuition, spoke up. It wasn't the voice of self-doubt. It was softer, kinder. It said, "What if this isn't a failure? What if this is... a beginning?"

That question cracked something open inside me. I started journaling again, not with the intention of figuring out how to fix my business, but to explore what was going on inside me. I wrote about my fears, my insecurities, and my limiting beliefs. I dug deep into my own "stuff," the very things I'm called to help others with.

And that's when I realized: I wasn't a failure. I was in the middle of a profound soul journey -- again. I am growing -- again. I am becoming -- again.

The failure of my coaching business, in the way I'd envisioned it, wasn't a sign that I was on the wrong path, but a sign that I needed to change the path. I needed to let go of the ego-driven desire to be a "successful" coach and embrace the messy, vulnerable, authentic journey of becoming a real human being.

I started to see that my "failures" were actually invitations to go deeper, to shed even more layers of who I thought I should be, and to embrace who I truly am -- Right now -- Not who I thought I should be or even who I want to become.

Slowly, tentatively, I have again begun to share my own journey with others. I started threading again about my struggles, my insights, and my emotional breakthroughs. I am getting ready to offer a small, intimate online group this summer, where we can explore our own "failures" together, not as problems to be fixed, but as opportunities for growth.

And something magical has already happened -- by addressing my own internal work and healing, the outter work is becoming more apparent and clear.

People have always resonated with my honesty. They connect with my vulnerability. They see that I'm not some guru on a mountaintop, but a fellow traveler on the same winding road -- and they are reaching out again for connection.

Now, my business hasn't "boomed" overnight, but it feels like it is headed toward growth again -- organically, authentically, from a place of genuine connection.

I'm not coaching from a beach in Bali (yet!), but I'm working toward doing work that I love -- on both myself and with others. And more importantly, I'm learning to embrace the journey as it is, with all its twists and turns, its "failures" and unexpected successes.

I needed the reminder that sometimes the biggest failure is actually the greatest success, because it leads you back to your soul.

Bold Challenge Questions:

How can you shift your mindset to view setbacks not just as data, but as essential fuel for your next bold move?

What's a "failure" you're currently avoiding that, if embraced, could provide the most valuable lesson for your personal or professional growth?

In what small, practical way can you start experimenting today to build your resilience and capacity for bold action in the face of uncertainty?
